Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 57

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood 57Ok, so I have to admit I never saw the showing of the Fullmetal Alchemist series on TV even though it was…. everywhere. But trust me, compared to the few episodes I saw from before to how this revamped series has been going so far, I’m actually quite happy I’m only seeing this version.

So if you’ve been keeping up with FMA Bro so far, you’ll know that Pride has been defeated, and so have quite a few other homunculi. Central has been taken over by Briggs from North Headquarters (which is the good guys, in case you haven’t been keeping up), and King Bradley showed up in the last episode and kicked so much ass all by himself, he even made a tank try to run away…. I say try… because the tank failed.

In this episode King Bradley is fighting Fu and Greed/Ling Yao, but the most they’re doing is slowing him down. All the while, Edward, Scar, Roy, and Hawkeye are underground and meet an unusual scientist who happens to be the one who created King Bradley, a.k.a. Wrath, in the first place… and he’s got some failed experiments who put up quite a fight against the team.

Check out the episode because it is full of a lot of story, blood, gore, fighting, and a nice little twist of an ending. You can download the episode at Anime Kami.

  1. Brian Kendig Said,

I watched the original FMA series. Not bad, it had its moments though it got mired in drama at certain points (especially near the end). Less soliloquizing and more alchemy, please!

I caught one Brotherhood episode on TV, watched it for a while, and couldn’t tell how it was different from the original series. Is it supposed to be?

  2. Kurt Said,

The difference is that it is retelling the story as it was originally written in the manga instead of being a made for tv series. In this version of the show it doesn’t shy away from blood, gore, the drawing style is a bit crisper and smoother animations. The original show diverged in a big way from the manga, and in the Brotherhood they keep to the story and don’t leave anything out.

    So yea… its better ;)

  3. Murph Said,

The original FMA and Brotherhood start out similarly through the first bunch of episodes, but then (as others have mentioned) Brotherhood continues to follow the manga, as the original did not. You’ll see as Brotherhood goes on, that it is less centered on Ed & Al and more centered on sort of a bigger picture.

I enjoyed the first one for that very reason – the journey of the two brothers; but I like Brotherhood as well as it gets into deeper and darker territory.
