Angel Beats! episode 8 is out now! I know I haven’t talked about this show before, and before you dismiss this show because of the its gay name, I urge you to actually watch an episode of it, it is actually incredibly funny, and a lot more action than you would think from the kind of characters they are.

The gist of the story goes a little like this:

There’s a guy named Yuzuru Otonashi who wakes up with no memory of his past or who he is and the first person he meets is a girl with purple hair named Yuri who just so happens to be holding a sniper rifle and aiming it at who seems to be a defenseless sweet little lolita with long white hair named Angel. How Yuri react to Otonashi? Well… she just so happens to be the leader of a group that fights Angel and can’t decide what to name themselves and so she tries to recruit him, of course! Believing she’s crazy, he goes down to tell Angel that someone is pointing a gun at her. After a short talk, he tells her he’s going to go to the hospital for his memory loss and Angel tells him there are none, because everyone is already dead and can’t get sick. Otonashi gets angry and tells her to prove it…. so she stabs him in the heart.

Basically, this show keeps making use of the fact the characters can’t die and gets them in situations where they kind of have to “die” in order to move on through certain missions they undergo. Don’t worry, everyone that dies, wakes up a few minutes later or the next day, perfectly fine. It’s pretty humorous.

Anyways, moving on to this episode, we find the main characters being attacked by a second Angel. She is just as powerful as the original except a lot more aggressive and the group doesn’t stand a chance, up until the original steps in and sacrifices herself to make the copy go down and save the group. The SSS members decide to lay low while they figure out their next move, Yuri finds out that Angel‘s Harmonics power lets her create a new copy of herself, but when they return to check up on Angel, she has been kidnapped by the copy. Here is where the hilarity begins.
