Remember back then the first iPhone launched they issues a refund for early users, I can totally see them doing that again. A recall might not be so bad if you can just take the phone to an iPhone retailer and exchange it for a new one that fixes the problem. That way you wouldn't have to worry about going phoneless while waiting for a replacement.
