Android Enhanced for Flash 10.1

by Ryan On February - 9 - 2010

Android devices will be getting an upgrade in order to offer full support for Adobe’s upcoming Flash 10.1. According to popular tech blog, Engadget, it was reported that Flash 10.1 would only be available to Android devices running OS version 2.1 or higher. Adobe’s Adrian Ludwig made the following comment when questioned about the upcoming Flash release, “Adobe, Google, and other members of the Open Screen Project are working together to make ensure the full Web experience can be delivered on [the] largest possible number of devices. Support for full Flash Player 10.1 requires some enhancements to existing versions of Android. These enhancements are expected to be available as an upgrade to existing devices and for new devices starting in Q2 2010.”

It sounds like they are at least making an attempt to ensure that everyone with an Android device will be able to properly run the new Flash version. However, with no specifics given there may be a few older devices left in the 10.1less abyss, but you don’t have to be; you can check out the latest Flash Player by downloading its beta 2 release from Adobe Labs!
