Apple’s iPad Already Facing Scrutiny?
Apple’s newly-announced iPad has been all the talk today among the tech community, and many are displaying their disappointment in the product.
The most notable complaint is the lack of support for Adobe’s Flash platform, which is widely used for rich content on the web. Flash is used for over 70% of games and 75% of video on the web, as well as millions of other web sites. Other complaints include lack of a camera, no multi-tasking, and restrictive DRM. There are also legal worries over the trademark for the ‘iPad’ name.
However, the price of the product came in well under expectations, at only $499 for the base model.
Apple’s stock fell by more then 4% today.
Is it too early to judge? The product won’t even launch until late March, so there will be plenty of time for fanboys and haters to argue about it.
Well, the Apple faithful will still buy it; as for regular consumers, I don’t know. We’ll have to wait and see.
