Xbox LIVE on Windows Phone 7
Microsoft’s reveals at Gamescom continue with this video showing off Xbox LIVE on the new Windows Phone 7 OS. As Destructoid has reported, XBL will be tightly integrated into the system and as Matt Booty, general manager of mobile gaming at Microsoft put it, “Windows Phone 7 is the launch of a major gaming platform for Microsoft.”
It might be easy to attribute this statement to inflated promotional speak if it weren’t for the serious lineup of games announced already; over 60 in all. There are some pretty big names in the list including Castlevania, Halo: Waypoint, Puzzle Quest 2, Star Wars, Crackdown, Assassin’s Creed and more.
Will it be enough to snag a significant market share from the iPhone and Android-based phones? Only time will tell, but with Avatars and Achievements thrown into the mix, it may make for a more personal and rewarding overall experience.

Yeah, there are quite a few big name franchises in there. If there’s another way for me to earn achievements, I’m interested. lol

It sure has potential! However, I don’t think it can currently compete with Android or iPhone… more so iPhone. 60 games looking to be the same or slightly less quality as iPhone games are not enough to even put a dent into the App Store which has thousands upon thousands of high quality “on the go” games.
One advantage Windows Phone 7 has over the others is its integration with Xbox Live. That feature will never be beat! I’m really looking forward to watching Windows Phone 7 expand and grow!
