Target Taking Used Electronics

by Ryan On August - 26 - 2010

Used electronics is big business and now retail giant Target has decided it wants a piece of the action. The company recently announced plans to begin accepting used electronics at certain locations and through their website. While the current focus is on video games, customers can also trade in DVD’s, iPhones, iPods and various other equipment for store credit.

The program is underway now in California and the company plans to bring the service to more than 800 Target stores by the year’s end. It will be interesting to see if they offer more incentive than Gamestop which gives just pennies on the dollar for trades and yet sells titles for a mere $5 less than full retail price for newer games. We certainly hope so.

I know best buy was also trying something like this out. It would be great if either of these store did it. Only thing nice about Gamestop is they sell more games than the box stores. If game stores go away, many games won’t have the change to be bought.
