Starcraft II – Collector’s Edition (unboxing)
After 11 years StarCraft II finally comes out and what do they give us? A great game and a very impressive collector’s edition. Sorry Nerdum fans about the late unboxing, our copy got lost in the mail. Trust me, we were not happy either.
StarCraft II and all it’s glory.
I usually like to purchase collector editions of games because most of the stuff they come with is pretty cool and I am a huge video game collector. I do have to say that this is by far the best collector’s edition of any game I’ve seen or have. Just the box it comes in looks and opens, yes opens, awesome. The box opens like industrial metal teeth, a door similar to what you would see in a sci-fi movie.
Opening the doors of awesome
This collector’s edition is filled to the max with Blizzard goodies. Something that they tend to put in all their collector’s edition is an art book and this is no different. This edition comes with the The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty book, a 176 page book of incredible art work from the game. The StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD is pack in with 14 songs from the game. A behind-the-scenes DVD that shows off how all the magic happened; they did have 11 years of content to pull from. The StarCraft comic book issue #0 is cool but I was actually more impressed that it came in plastic and the comic cardboard insert, little things like this always impress me. For the World of Warcraft lovers, you get a StarCraft II in-game pet. There is also special StarCraft II content unlocks like special features, including in-game army icons, innovative avatar portraits, and an exclusive version of the in-game Thor unit. Last but in my opinion the best is the battle-worn replica of Jim Raynor’s dog tag 2GB USB flash drive preloaded with StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War. The quality of the drive is very impressive, all metal with the face lighting up, and another light for data transferring.
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty – Collector’s Edition
Collector’s Editions are not for everyone but everyone can call this one impressive. The art book is cool to leave on your coffee table for guests to flip through and the music is great to listen to if you like the western inspired instrumental soundtrack. I can see many thinking the flash drive and owning the original StarCraft is cool but most will not touch these. I replayed the original StarCraft using this flash drive so it was great for me. Call me crazy but overall the most impressive thing the collector’s edition offered was the freaking sweet box. I don’t mean that in a bad way to knock the other content but when have you seen a game box open more awesome than that? Never. Go get StarCraft II today.
