Raven Software Developing Next CoD?
With the fallout between Activision and Infinity Ward, the future of the Call of Duty franchise has been in limbo. Who’s going to continue the series? Treyarch? Bungie? Try Raven Software. That’s the newest name bubbling up from the depths of the rumor pot.
Kotaku recently made a post detailing signs that the Wolfenstein developer may be the next in line to handle Call of Duty. The report states that the company’s future project, a 007 title, has been put on hold; Activision currently owns the 007 license as well. According to the article, “The team is said to now be on the path to Call of Duty development, with Activision allegedly ‘flipping out’ about the current Infinity Ward situation.”
Currently, the next CoD game, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is being worked on by World at War developers Treyarch. Meanwhile, Raven has most recently been busying themselves with Singularity; a sci-fi FPS that will send players to different time periods as they fight for survival against some pretty gnarly looking enemies. The game is currently scheduled to hit the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this June.
And in case you’re wondering, nearly half of the Infinity Ward development studio has left since the legal turmoil began.
I’m down for this, I’ve always liked them as a developer. They do some good stuff although I’ve applied there a lot and never got a job
