PS3 Going 3D in June?

by Ryan On March - 10 - 2010

According to gaming site VG247, it looks like PS3 owners could see 3D support as early as this June! June 10, to be exact. While, this is still just a rumor, there is some convincing evidence to support it. Supposedly an article on a Japanese website mentioned that PS3 firmware update 3.20 will bring the 3D option to the console and that several developers have already been working with it.

The rumor gains more credibility given that Sony has already shown off games such as Gran Turismo and Super Stardust HD running in 3D at previous events. Add to that the fact that a June 2010 release date puts this firmware right in line with the release of Sony’s first 3D television and it’s easy to see the pieces coming together.

If all goes well, this could be a nice competitive advantage for Sony over Microsoft, but is gaming really ready for 3D? If this turns out to be true, we’ll find out soon enough!
