As you all may have heard, yesterday morning a new Mortal Kombat video hit the internet like a cannon ball through a watermelon! People have speculated that it is an intro to a new MK video game and others have said it’s a trailer for a new movie. Even though both of these would seem very likely, they happen to be wrong. This is in fact a movie pitch to reboot the franchise to WB.

This seven-minute video stars Michael Jai-White playing the character of Jax from the Mortal Kombat video games. Near the end of the video we also see another star come into the scene, this one being Jeri Ryan acting as Sonya Blade. Many characters make it into this video, and you can definitely tell that it’s been heavily influenced by the extreme realism that The Dark Knight portrays.

Even though all day yesterday, people were speculating of all the different possibilities of what this video could be. Jeri Ryan went on twitter and stated the following:

“Okay, so… Mortal Kombat. It’s not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.” Later she went on to say “I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB’s reaction to it was. And I’m not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful…! ”
