id’s Rage Coming to iPhone

John Carmack has announced that id Software’s Rage will be coming to the iPhone. During his keynote speech at QuakeCon, Carmack revealed a tech demo that he put together and we can say that it blows anything else on the platform out of the water. While you may be used to casual games with minimalist visuals, Carmack’s demo runs at 60 frames per second and, as he said, is able to “kill anything done on the Xbox or PlayStation 2.”

The demo looked great and ran smoothly, but there’s more to it than that; the game may possibly make it out this year! He also noted that while the demo was running on the new iPhone 4, the game will run just fine on the 3GS model as well. One can’t help but marvel at just how talented this guy is.

Android users, sorry to say that JC is currently sitting out on Android development, though he did mention that perhaps he will get involved with the next generation of Android-based phones.
