GDC 2010: PlayStation Move
Yesterday at GDC, Sony held a press conference where they gave everyone an in depth look at their upcoming motion controller. It has been officially named the PlayStation Move. The PlayStation Move is capable of tracking real time movement and converting it to actions within the game world. The controller can be coupled with the PlayStation Eye to project the player onto the screen where they will appear to be holding in game objects, such as a sword or golf club depending on the game.
Several games were shown off during the presentation including SOCOM 4, Move Party!, Sports Champion and Motion Fighter. Sony said that 36 developers were currently creating PlayStation Move titles and that we should expect plenty of surprises at this year’s E3.
The company also showed off what they are calling the Move subcontroller. It essentially plays a role similar to the Wii’s nunchuck, but doesn’t need to be directly connected to the main Move controller as it is all wireless.
Check out the official trailer below and let us know what you think about Sony’s foray into motion controls!
As gay as the Wiimote

I hate to be Mr. Negativity here, but I’m with Kurt. I didn’t see anything that the Wii hasn’t been doing for the last 4 years. I know it is more accurate and the boxing stuff looks like it could be fun, but overall I’m not impressed. Then again, I wasn’t expecting to be. Motion control is what it is and I don’t think Sony or MS will really change that. But hey, I’m not totally closed off to the idea. Maybe they’ll show something later down the road that grabs my attention.
