Gaming Hub Kongregate Acquired by Gamestop
The world’s largest retailer for video games, Gamestop, has officially acquired online gaming hub Kongregate. The Kongregate website has a new section devoted to fans who may be concerned about the move. Afterall, Gamestop doesn’t exactly have the best reputation among the gaming community, but Kongregate seems adamant that things won’t be changing much for their users.
“We decided to accept GameStop’s offer because they love us and love you, and want us to continue to be one big, happy family. No, really. GameStop likes us for who we are and is not looking to change Kongregate – they just want to help us grow and improve.”
So what does this mean for everyone? Well, I think Kongregate put it best: “In non-technical terms, this means that all your Kongregates are belong to GameStop.”
Good to see they’ve still got their sense of humor.
Kongregate is a great online gaming site; if you haven’t been there yet, you should definitely take the time to check it out!
“all your Kongregates are belong to GameStop” LOL!!!! Well hopefully it just allows Kongregate to really grow and not become a paid membership site.

I agree; as long as the site doesn’t change too drastically I don’t really care who owns it.

Some big news, hope it works out well. I would think Gamefly would have tried this since they launched a online arcade section not long ago: http://www.gamefly.com/Arcade/
